This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our students are so bright and eager to learn! However, the pandemic did a number on the students' academic achievement. Although our school library is small, I want our library to pack a powerful academic punch of reader engagement and critical thinking. I am new to this school, and am working toward creating a child friendly environment, where I foster the love of reading and inspire students to want to read!

In my new school, I have been working on establishing a comfortable storytelling area, where I can share stories and literacy skills.

For this, I would like to have the rocking chair, in order to create a comfortable area to read and tell stories (and sometimes to act them out!). I would also like a desk to house my laptop and document camera, in order to share stories and focus/highlight the students' attention to specific learning and literacy details.
