Rockin' Rhythm Blocks!

Help me give my students LEGO bricks to help them learn to read and compose music.

My Project

These LEGO bricks will allow my students to learn musical rhythms in a very engaging way. Each brick has a certain size, just like each note has a certain length. Students will be able to use these for reading new rhythms, as well as composing their own rhythms. Students could build a "melody" by stacking bricks in sequences that correspond to a musical phrase.

Learning to read music notation helps young students learn to read words better.

Assembling LEGO bricks can also help with the fine motor aspect for younger students. All in all, this project will help us to maximize our ability to simultaneously learn and have fun!

LEGO activities also foster collaboration and teamwork. In group activities, students can be tasked with creating a musical composition using their LEGO structures. For example, one group might build the rhythm section, another might build the melodic portion, and another might focus on dynamics.
