Help me give my students an environmentally friendly way to conduct therapy in a relaxed setting with advanced online tools that enhance engagement and foster skills that can be used in the digital age.
The students I serve are incredibly resilient. They have endured a lot of trauma but continue to amaze me with their can-do attitude and efforts at making a better life for themselves. They see me for therapy but often it is more to create a safe relationship at school and to foster a sense of belonging when fitting in is not always possible. My students are amazing humans with kind hearts. They love to give and create ways to benefit the greater community.
My Project
Resilience is the way we bounce back from adverse experiences to increase our future potential. Many of the students I serve get "stuck" outside of the zone of resilience. The tools I have requested (some flex seating and tablets) will enhance the learning experience of my students in a therapeutic and inviting way. The apps we have access to are free but not every student I serve has the electronic devices needed for access. I'm asking for an opportunity to afford the students who see me for resiliency enhancement to simply get the tools they need when attempting to create skills, in a digital age, to move them forward regardless of circumstance to be who they desire to be. With these materials, my students will be comfortably able to flourish with given interventions through a technology interface. Not only does this reduce paper costs and landfill use but it provides 21st-century skills in a therapy setting.
