My students need an oak rocking chair.

I have the greatest 2nd graders who come from a high need-community where opportunities to learn are very limited!

My students don't have a lot of encouragement at home to read. So getting them to read the books instead of just looking at pictures or goofing off is often times a challenge. I would like to give them an incentive to read and a place they can go as a reward and spend time reading.

I would like a rocking chair that we can use for the students to go sit in and read as a reward for reading quietly. We would also be able to use the rocking chair for story time and for author shares which would encourage the students to write more too.

Your help will ensure that these high-risk students will learn to love reading and develop a desire to read more by enjoying reading in the classroom. Making reading fun and enjoyable is the key to helping them become life-long learners.
