Rockin' Kindergarteners Need of Rockin' Listening Center!
My students need headphones, a junction box with volume controls, books on CD and storage bins, to create our listening center.
This project expired on April 7, 2014.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
When was the last time you used a cassette player? Probably not within the last 10 years. My students are 5-6 years old and only have this old technology to use for their listening center.
We are a diverse group of Rockin' Kindergarteners.
Our school is a Title one school. Reading is new and exciting for us! Many of my students have not been exposed to the childhood classics and don't know how to read yet, so listening to those classics helps them gain an appreciation for reading.
Our new Rockin' listening center will become an integral part of our classroom learning environment. Students will be able to listen to books, while they follow along, in order to gain confidence as they learn how to read. This gives them the independence they need to become active readers, without always relying on the teacher.
Students need to LEARN to READ in order to READ to LEARN.
By helping our class learn to read in Kindergarten, it will set them up for success in the future. This new Rockin' listening center will benefit future students for years to come.
