This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My school is located in Washington Heights. Most of our students come from a low socioeconomic status. A large population are English Language Learners and special education. At my school, we are dedicated to creating life long learners. We strive to help our students achieve the best to their abilities. My class consists of 25 kindergartners. They come to school eager to learn and motivated to apply new skills every day. My goal as their teacher is to provide them with the necessary materials and a comfortable, safe, and kid-friendly learning environment to ensure they are successful.
My Project
These materials will make a difference because having them will allow our class’ charts, student journals, bins, labels and student work to be printed in color so that they feel more motivated to use them independently and complete their work with pride.
It is important, especially in kindergarten, to provide an inviting, stimulating and student-friendly learning environment where they will want to come to everyday.
I would love to create engaging and purposeful learning centers, games, books that they can utilize throughout the year.
Providing a clean classroom is also very important to making it inviting, hygenic and healthful for everyone.
