Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are honors-level students in a low-income area who are working hard, some very hard with jobs and more, to make better lives for themselves and get into a good college. They are hardworking, compassionate, and determined.

Many of my students come from a disadvantaged background, with a 65% economic disadvantage; there are students who will be the first in their families to go to college.

They know this and every day to them is a day to improve their lives and the lives of those they love.

My Project

I am requesting Rocketbooks for my classroom with erasable pens and covers for when students need to bring them home. Rocketbooks are reusable notebooks that can last for years, saving not only a lot of paper but also providing a steady affordable way for all students in every class to have access to note-taking materials. This also will allow us to create digital notebooks for students to keep all their materials accessible no matter where they are. No more lost notes.

I am always looking for new ways to integrate technology in my classroom, and to make everything accessible to all students.

As a low-income student, myself who was homeless for most of the high school having materials for every student throughout the entire year is a huge priority to me. With these notebooks, every student will have access to quality materials that will last from class to class, and they are easy to keep clean.

The other benefit of these is the amount of paper saved over time. I hope by having these in the class more students can purchase these for use in all their classes, and we can all get closer to a greener world.
