I teach a vibrant group of 4th graders in rural south Georgia. Our class is an inclusion co-teaching class. Because of this, we are a group filled with diversity. Whether that diversity is academic or cultural, our class has a variety of needs. One thing all my students have in common is their love of learning.
Through an environment of high expectations and kindness, students are setting and reaching goals they never thought possible.
Being a rural school does create unique circumstances for our students. Many students face economic and social challenges at home; however, this does not stop them from being active and engaged learners. Through goal setting and achievement, students are able to put what they are learning into practice. A variety of teaching strategies are used to accommodate all learning styles including flexible seating, song/dance, and technology.
My Project
These Rocketbooks will give students a way to tie note taking to technology. Through their creative process students will be able to work out problems and immediately connect them to their own google classroom accounts. Students will share notes which will aid in study skills and retention of the content.
Note taking can be tedious, but, with Rocketbooks, students will be engaged in the process.
They will even be able to immediately send their work to me.
When a notebook is full, students will be able to erase and reuse it through a simple microwave process. This will give multiple students the opportunity to learn and grow using the Rocketbook.
