I teach kindergarten in a low income school in Florida. Almost 85% of my students do not have a grasp on phonemic awareness. That means they have trouble putting sounds together and pulling them apart, a skill essential to reading.
Being that this is only my second year teaching Kindergarten, I have very few hands on materials and games that can help my students build this essential reading skill.
The materials I am asking for will help my students by teaching them phonemic awareness skills, like blending sounds together, in fun hands on games. Not only will this help my current class, but each of my future classes.
Reading is key to a child's education. Without these important skills, my students will struggle in their attempts to read and will hinder their chances of success in school. Please help my students by helping to buy these wonderful games!
