My Students
Think back to your childhood. Do you remember making mud pies, collecting stones while wandering through the woods, or digging in the dirt for a buried treasure? Kids love to explore the Earth. What better way to tap into students' natural curiosity than by studying rocks and minerals?
I teach a 3/4 multi-age class of 24 students who have been identified as gifted.
There are 7 third-graders and 17 fourth-graders in my class. There is a pretty even mix of boys and girls, and many cultures are represented. My students are very unique, dynamic, and engaging. They love coming to school, and I truly enjoy being their teacher.
My Project
My students LOVE to learn, and their enthusiasm inspires me to do my best to keep them motivated everyday. I enjoy going beyond the traditional district-curricula. I feel it's my duty to bring in a variety of learning experiences, even if they do not always perfectly align with district grade-level requirements. As a teacher, I do not have the means to purchase the vast amount of supplemental materials my students deserve. This is why I am asking for your help. I would like my students to have access to Rocks and Minerals literature and tools in order to give them important background knowledge about Geology, Rocks and Minerals. Currently, I am raising money to purchase a Rocks and Minerals science kit. The additional resources I hope to receive from DonorsChoose would complete the package.
One of the most exciting parts of my job is to witness students find their passions.
Your donation could inspire one or more of my students to develop his/her passion for Geology. S/he could grow up to become a seismographer, geologist, or gemologist because of a learning experience made possible by you.
