My students need rocks and minerals games, specimens and books. They will enjoy working together to classify rocks and play games to learn more about rock types.
My students are amazing! They have tons of energy and love to learn. They like to be creative and have fun. They deserve the best education and classroom that I can give them! They come from a wide range of backgrounds and I love to see them all work and learn together.
My students come from a wide variety of backgrounds and some have very few experiences outside of the community they live in.
They enjoy learning about the world around them. I try to show them as much as I can through virtual field trips, videos, and photographs.
My Project
My students recently have expressed an interest in learning more about rocks and minerals after a brief unit of study. We had two guests speakers who really sparked interest for them.
I'm requesting an Introductory Earth Science Classroom Rocks and Minerals Collection, ROCK ON!
Geology Game, a Rocks and MIneral Exploration Kit, Sedimentary, Metamorphic, and Igneous Rock Collections, and copies of National Geographic Kids Everything Rocks and Minerals, Rocks & Minerals: A Gem of a Book, and The Rock and Gem Book. Using these resources my students will be able to study the rocks up close, classify them and then learn and research more about them.
It has been a long time since I have seen students get so excited about a topic! I am hoping by having the chance to learn more about rocks and minerals and get some hands-on experiences this will cause students to become interested in even more science topics. I also hope this will encourage them to get outside and enjoy nature. They will have the knowledge to classify and identify rocks out in the real world. Something that maybe will lead into a hobby for some of them. I know their faces will be priceless when these materials show up in our class.
