My students need Rock And Roll Forever - How It All Began CD sheet music and games to play in music class to help them learn to sing and play musical instruments.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
It's hard to come by new sheet music for our elementary school. Our current music books are very dated and we need some fresh repertoire.
My students like to play games, dance, sing, and do all the things that make children the creative and imaginative creatures that kids should be.
Most of our kids come from poor backgrounds and participate in the federal free lunch and breakfast programs. Children from poor and middle class families need the hope and motivation that comes from a life of musical learning. They receive such motivation every day in our music class.
My Project
We are requesting the "Rock and Roll Forever" Musical, which comes with activities and games covering the history of rock and roll. We are also requesting an Orff Music Activity book, which is full of games and activities to help get kids interested in music education. We will be focusing on the history of Rock and Roll in our upper grades (3-5).
I believe performance is the cornerstone of a good music program.
There are still music programs that rely on pencil and paper in the 4th and 5th grades and have no singing or performance or hands-on experiences to make musical concepts more concrete for students. Your donation will give students the tools to learn these concepts through performance and other creative games and experiences.
