Robots Rule!

My students need new equipment to compete with in the Lego Robotics Competition. We are currently using robots that are three models behind.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school has a small GATE program that we are hoping to expand. The program focuses on the intermediate grades and is open to all students, not just the ones who qualify for GATE. Each year we compete in our county's LEGO Robotics competition, but with old equipment we start at a disadvantage.

The majority of our students are on the free or reduced lunch program and are second language learners.

Despite their economic status they are bright, intelligent, and eager to learn. I want to even the playing field and provide them with the latest model LEGO Robotics have to offer so they can have a far chance at the next competition. When a Title 1 school is competing against schools that are parent funded there is no competition. Thank you for helping us have a fighting chance!

My Project

Our students will use the LEGO Mindstorm Robotics Kit to learn how to program and operate Robots. We will then compete in the local Robotics Competitions where they will either race their robots on a track or battle another robot in a ring. Many of our students have said that they want to be engineers when they grow up. We want to continue to feed that passion so they will reach that dream.

With your generous donation you will be evening the playing field for economically disadvantaged students.

They will be able to use their minds on a whole new level and compete with the latest model LEGO Robotics has to offer. Thank you for believing in their minds and not letting them fall behind because of the color of their skin or how much money their parents earn.
