My Students
As my students walk into the classroom they can often be heard asking what special event we have for the day! They are eager to experience learning in a fun and interesting way. My Kindergarten students are eager to participate in new and hands-on activities they may not have a chance to do at home.
My young students are filled with wonder and joy as they learn something new each day.
Our school is a Title l school in an area where many of the students live in apartments and have limited financial resources. Many students have parents who work long hours and have to be in childcare or with babysitters. At home, they may the time or access for some of the opportunities they could get at school.
My Project
A Dash Robot will allow my students to use a robot to program and learn about computer science. Since my school is a STEAM school we try to emphasize integrating technology into our teaching.
By providing the students with a robot that is age appropriate they can begin to learn about computer science in a meaningful and hands on way.
The children will be inspired to learn more about programming and coding as they work with the robot. In addition the field of computer science is often underrepresented by women and minorities so this can give these student populations a head start in this field.
