Our school is in a very rural area where there are just as many cows and horses as people. I have taught at several different places but the students at our High School stand out. What makes these students different is due to their character and respect that many other schools do not demand or expect from their kids. I am very proud of the students that I have taught and I know that their education with a focus on core values will help them to be successful beyond high school.
I have a wide range of students, 6th graders, 8th graders and all levels of high school.
They take various different classes from me but all the students get excited about technology. They are always curious about what my robotics class or what my drone class is doing.
Teaching technology is fun for me because the students already have a curiosity and interest in what we are doing. It makes it so much more rewarding as a teacher to teach students to understand something that they actually feel is exciting and interesting.
My Project
This is the first year that Callisburg high school has had a robotics class. I am the new technology teacher and guess what, there are no robots for the robotics class and no money budgeted to buy any! I recently went to a robotics training at the University of Texas Dallas, where we learned to use these LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 31313 Robot Kits. They are an awesome tool to get into programming and robotics with the added perk of being able to compete against other schools in the area. I have already spent a lot of my own money on this class so that we can get hands-on building and programming but these LEGO robots are the tools we need to make this class successful.
