Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The robotic materials will enable students on our robotic team to collaborate within a hands-on environment. My students will draw and label a blueprint for their robot. They will then be able to use the materials from the VEX materials to construct a robot. Finally, our students have the opportunity to operate his/her robot using different circuits and wireless controllers.
The robot kit will afford them life altering experiences that will open their eyes that they can achieve lofty goals outside of our neighborhood.
We have been to the World Tournament the previous three years. However, our robot kits have been exhausted past the point of being usable. The robotics allow students to be hands-on to problem solve, in, but not limited to, math and science.
Being able to compete with other students from other areas, my students are exposed to once in a lifetime experiences that they would normally not be able to enjoy. Our campus is 100% free breakfast and lunch school, a Title 1 school. Many of them have not been outside of our campus community. Robotics provides my students with a fulfilling journey that otherwise would not be possible.
