This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in a public school, in a growing community.

The diversity at our school comes from the economic levels and our English as a Second Language Learners.

My school has an enrollment in kindergarten through 5th grade of a little over 650 students. The town population is around 70,000, with 18 elementary schools in the district. I teach in a self-contained, third grade class. I have twenty-five students. I teach students with a wide range of learning abilities. I have 10 Caucasian, 12 Latino, 2 Marseilles, and 1 African American student.

My Project

The Dash Robot will get my students so excited about learning how to code. My students will use our iPads that we received from Donors Choose to program, explore, create, and learn to code. My students will explore and learn how coding works to make our Dash Robot move around the room and the school. My students will collaborate and work together to solve different tasks, using the Robots. Computer Coding is extremely important for all students to learn. It will be a necessary skill for their future and using the Dash Robots is a great way to introduce them to these skills.
