Robots and Arduinos and Little Bits, Oh My!

My Students

We are in a rural community. Most of our students do not have the opportunity to learn from technology outside of the classroom, but they are very eager. By providing robotics and circuitry our students will learn to have a love for science and build upon it when they get on to middle school.

Our target students are in grades 3 through 5 and have shown an early interest in science and technology.

For example, 30% of the students participated in 20 hours or more of an introductory class in computer science. We also have a video game creator's club. Our school also provides a science lab that the students use to enthusiastically conduct experiments.

My Project

Our students will use these materials to explore robotics and circuitry with hands on projects. By working with this technology, the students will be making connections across the curriculum and thus providing them with real world skills in technology. These materials will also be used to start a robotics team, thus providing them an opportunity which they might not normally be able to participate in.

Creativity is key to any child's education.

By teaching in a rural school, our students have less access to technology outside of the school environment. We wish to provide STEAM enrichment through the introduction of robotics and circuitry to the students.
