Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our students in 7th and 8th grade are a handful. They are curious, challenge motivated and eager to learn. They crave to be stimulated and engaged almost every second of class. Also easily distracted , so I have to focus on keeping them engaged constantly.
These students have been through overwhelming experiences during and since Hurricane Harvey.
Considering that we started school one month late and our students came back to school to start the year eager to learn was wonderful to see. These students have gone through tremendous life stories that most adults would cringe to even think about. They have been an inspiration to me and to our whole school.
My Project
Help me give my students Go Botley robots to create challenges that will stimulate an interest in Computer Science and Engineering and Computer Programming. By using these robots, student will have to use creative solutions to solve challenges each day. With the extra accessory kits, background will be setup and the Botley robot will have to be programmed to go through and find the flag or other targets. Students will learn to meet these challenges through planning, teamwork and sometimes trial and error to solve these challenges. Students will learn that not all goals will be met on their first attempt. But they will find this rewarding.
