Robotics Skills Will Get My Students Jobs!

Help me give my students a chance to build a programmable LEGO EV3 robot, learn robotics skills that can give them a job in the future, and enter the BPS robotic competition this year!

My Students

I teach computer skills to K-5th grade students. This is a new life skill they should all master in the 21st century. The students are quick learners, and a lot of them have great potential to become engineers in the future, but the school has no funds to purchase any kits for higher level learning. We were able to raise funds to get only the most basic Chromebooks, which is good for learning basic skills, but limits our potential to grow.

Our school is made up of over 800 beautiful children ranging from pre-kindergarten to grade 5.

We are an inner-city public school with a student population very diverse in race, ethnicity and socioeconomic status. Approximately 80% of the students come from low-income families and 70% are English language learners.

My Project

The robotics industry is growing faster than expected. Millions of jobs will be destroyed, but new, even better jobs will be created in the process.

The LEGO EV3 robotic set will help my students learn engineering skills that will allow them to get great jobs in the robotics industry!

I will use this set in many different classrooms during computer specialty. We will build different robots. Thanks to we have one of these robots and my students were able to build a really cool robot and enter a mini competition already. Unfortunately a set is recommended for two to four students, and I have 15-27 students in my classes. We need more robots so more students can get hands-on experience and we can keep a few working designs to enter different students in the upcoming BPS robotics competition. This is so exciting!

The LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 makes building, programming and commanding your own LEGO robots smarter, faster, and more fun than ever. It's an awesome robotics set!
