My Project
We are requesting funding for a multi-surface robot that can vacuum and mop, designed to enhance our Robotics Using VEX class. This project will provide students with hands-on experience in analyzing the latest robotics technology, focusing on the sensors and programming that enable the robot to navigate various surfaces and avoid obstacles. Students will learn how the robot uses sensors to detect dirt, adjust cleaning behavior, and ensure efficiency. They will also explore the algorithms that control the robot’s autonomous actions, gaining valuable insights into programming and system design.
What makes our robotics class fun is the opportunity for students to engage in healthy, mission-based competitions.
These challenges encourage teamwork, problem-solving, and creative thinking. By working with the multi-surface robot, students will have the chance to study the robot's sensors and algorithms in action. This knowledge will then be applied to their own robot designs, allowing them to experiment, innovate, and compete with personalized creations.
The project also promotes interdisciplinary learning by involving other classes, including Family and Consumer Science and Foods Technology. Students will see the practical applications of robotics in cleaning tasks, connecting their knowledge to real-world scenarios. This cross-curricular approach fosters a deeper understanding of how robotics technology improves daily life.
Ultimately, this project will help students gain critical skills in programming, systems design, and robotics, while encouraging them to apply their knowledge in exciting, mission-driven competitions. It will inspire the next generation of innovators, preparing them for future opportunities in STEM fields.
