Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are awesome, and they are so excited to learn! I provide service to the students at the school who have been identified as gifted. They participate in a pull-out program where they learn math, language arts, social studies, and science. They are an energetic bunch and work well together. They are a very cohesive group and are very supportive of each other.
My students love expanding their skills and interests!
Each month they create a new project with their families and present their project to the class. Their creations are amazing and I am continually impressed with the thought process behind their work. I love working with them and seeing how they quickly pick up and learn new information. They are always ready to take on a new challenge and love participating in activities that challenge their thinking.
My Project
My students have loads of fun learning and I want to expand their skills with robotics! They are very creative and enjoy using technology in their learning. Adding robotics will enhance their experience in school and help them learn important skills. Sometimes gifted students become easily frustrated, working with robots will teach them to slow down and work step by step to solve a problem. The students will be placed in groups of 4. By working in small groups, they will develop important social and communication skills. This will also be the perfect time for the students to increase their critical thinking skills by making decisions and problem solving.
The donations to this project will help to improve my students' critical thinking skills, creativity, and teach them to take charge of their learning.
They are ready and excited to start robotics. The two robots will be used for teams. Each team will design a course for the robot to work through. They will have to teach the robot to recognize colors, follow a path, and stop at specific points in order for it to successfully navigate through. The ping pong balls will be used for the students to teach the robot to carry a load through a course, drop the load off, return to the starting point, and begin again. We have an exciting adventure ahead of us!
