My Students

I teach in a rural community. Our school is a Title One school with 69% poverty rate. There are approximately 450 students k-4. Most of our students start school together in kindergarten and continue their education together through graduation. This provides a strong sense of community. I am committed to working with my students to show them that working together we can improve our school and the community.

In my class we talk about the fact that your current life situation doesn't define who you will become.

I teach that you must be willing to work hard to overcome whatever obstacles are in your way, and that just because they are fourth graders doesn't mean that they can't set goals and start working toward the future they want.

My Project

The Botley coding robot will help further my students knowledge of coding and robotics. I am trying to build up a variety of coding and STEM equipment to help my student develop critical thinking skills.

These kits will make a great addition to the tools I currently have in my classroom.

I firmly believe, students learn by playing. They do not realize they are learning, but this type of kit provides great opportunities for student to develop their communication and critical thinking skills while playing. These kits will be an excellent way to broaden my studnet's 21st century technology skills.
