This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Every student in our school has a desire to learn. Kids are constantly asking questions, making predictions, and working to find solutions. PK3-8th grade students do not always have the opportunity to learn engineering skills throughout the day, but are very excited to participate in clubs and activities after school.
The students in our school come from a community that emphasizes hard work and encourages students to be successful.
Our students love hands-on learning that can inspire them to explore even more outside of school. Our students take advantage of every opportunity and love to expand their knowledge about the world around them.
My Project
Students at my school rarely have an opportunity to work with engineering, coding, and robotics throughout the school day. Although students are extremely interested in these topics, we unfortunately are unable to offer STEM programming during the regular school day.
With these materials, I am hoping to offer various clubs to PK3-8th grade students to teach them the 21st century skills of coding, engineering and robotics.
Our African American and Latino students deserve the chance to learn about these topics, and build these skills that can turn into careers in their future. It is amazing to see students begin to think like scientists and empower them to achieve amazing things.
