Robotics and Engineering in The Classroom

My students need more Lego Mindstorm kits for robotics and programming units.

My Students

Hands-on group activities are the most important part of a good science learning environment. My class involves students using manipulative materials and activities. With Common Core State Standards engineering and robotics are a large part of the new curriculum.

My students will use the kits for developing robots and programming them to solve a particular task.

This will be a great hands-on activity that will help them as young engineers. We will also use these robot kits to compete in a county wide robotics competition. My students are great kids that enjoy hands-on activities. When my students hear that we are doing a project the classroom really comes to life and the students participate more. Being able to use these robotics kits would really increase participation in the classroom.

My Project

The donation of these kits will be very important to my class and my school. With budgets being tight my district can't afford these. So teaching robotics and engineering to eighth grade students will be a challenge. Without these kits I feel I will be cheating the kids of the experience they should have during my class and robotics unit. These kits will be the main focus of our robotics and programming unit. The end goal of this unit is to participate in a county wide robotics competition.

My students are in need of another Lego robotics kits to start working on engineering and robotics units, which are an important part of Common Core.

The extra sensors will be great for learning about new sensors and programming.
