This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The FIRST® Robotics Competition is the varsity sport for the mind. Students are given an eight-week period where they are given a real-world problem to solve and tasked with coming up with an innovative solution. They have to strategize about the most efficient and effective way to score the game pieces and then determine which type of robot they want to build.

We spend the next eight weeks designing, fabricating, programming, and practicing with our five-foot, 120 lb robot and each of our sixteen students has a specific job in order to make sure our team performs to our maximum potential.

This project is for a variety of beads in maroon and silver, number beads, and stretchy string to make robot friendship bracelets to give out at the competitions. We will be stringing the numbers 3314, a robot charm, and maroon and silver beads to create custom bracelets to hand out. The theme this year is CresCendo - putting the A for Arts in STEAM. This project will give my students a way to show their artistic creativity and to bond with other teams by trading friendship bracelets.
