This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In my busy Title I classroom, I have the privilege of teaching a group of students from various backgrounds, including many English language learners. Despite the hurdles they may face, these students consistently display resilience, curiosity, and an eagerness to create and collaborate.
One of the ways I aim to harness this collective energy is through the integration of coding into our daily learning routines.
I firmly believe that coding is not just a technical skill, but a language and a mindset that can empower students to think critically, solve problems, and innovate. By integrating coding with our daily activities, I hope to demystify technology and inspire my students to see themselves as creators and problem solvers.
To support this vision, I am requesting a classroom set of iRobot Root Pro coding robots, along with Root brick tops for building. These robots will provide my students with a hands-on opportunity to practice and explore coding concepts in a fun and engaging way.
My goals for this project extend beyond just teaching coding skills. I want to instill in my students a sense of curiosity and a passion for learning that will serve them well in the future. By integrating coding into our daily routines, I hope to show my students that coding is not just for computer scientists or engineers, but a valuable tool that can be used in any field or profession.
My students are a special group who bring a diverse range of experiences and perspectives to our classroom. By providing them with the opportunity to practice and explore coding through the use of Root Pro robots, I hope to equip them with the skills they need to succeed in an increasingly digital world. Thank you for considering my request, and for supporting my amazing students!
