Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students have the opportunity to reflect and dive into some deep conversation this year as we use "Bud, Not Buddy" and "Flush" as a main textbook. Our biggest challenge for our students to recognize this year is how civilizations rise and struggle to maintain their social order.
My students are unique.
They represent all facets of the world with many ideologies, values, and traditions. My school, is unique in that we use various forms of mobile technology devices as main resources for research and communicating with the world.
In addition, my students are really into sports. I like taking their interest in sports and giving them an opportunity to develop their character as well as their athletic ability. It is imperative that our school teach our students the importance of winning and loosing with a first class response.
My Project
My students will use the books to engage in meaningful class discussions, as well deep reflection. Through "Bud, Not Buddy," students will connect how the commencement speeches from Steve Jobs and President Obama connect. "Flush" allows my students to focus on taking care of our environment through proper use of our natural resources. This unit will tie in perfectly for several field trips and 6th grade camp in 2015.
Lastly, having football equipment...well, we need it to play and have those learning opportunities in competition.
These donations will impact the classroom, because my students will have an opportunity to reflect and make a difference in their world now and tomorrow.
I continually ask the "Big Life" questions as I see fit within the curriculum and daily classroom culture. Your donation is an investment to the future of tomorrow.
