Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students have very big hearts and truly make do with what they have. For some, school is their safe haven from extremely poverty-stricken and violent homes. My students are in a very low-income community. They are kind and loving but may not get all the things they need. I have really gotten to know these students in our building and their families very well. I have already learned that I have children who come from needy families. Some of my children come from split families where they may or may not see one or both parents. I am very lucky to be able to touch these kiddos' lives. They are very creative and love to be able to explore their learning world through my classroom.

Each child in the class has his or her own unique personality that has really brought our community together.

They are very creative and are starting to really enjoy the academic world and are improving every day.

My Project

My district has recently purchased a new reading curriculum and in doing so they did not order the alternative texts that are used to reteach the reading lessons if students need it. Many of the books that are selected are on the alternative list and would really help my students with learning the concepts in reading. The magnet hooks, white board holder and other items will be used for students to have a more organized classroom for their reading instructions. I have such a wonderful class, and co-teachers, and they deserve to have everything they need in order to be successful in reading.
