Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"The difference between the right word and almost the right word is the difference between lightning and a lightning bug."---Mark Twain
My students are learning to be good writers and I'd like to help them get there.
My students have a broad range of ability levels.
Some are English Language Learners and are developing their command of the English language. I have yet another group of students, although smaller, who are gifted and need to be challenged. My school is a small neighborhood school with a majority of the students coming from backgrounds with a low socio-economic level.
My Project
My students will use the blank hardcover books to author their very own book. This will be a highly motivating project where they will need to carefully go through the steps of the writing process from start to finish. They will learn how to create an interesting setting and plot. They will also learn how to proofread and edit their work. Although we already do quite a bit of writing in our daily classroom routine, I believe seeing their own writing in a hardbound book will be a thrilling experience for them. It will be something that they can hold on to and share with others in their lives.
Your generous donation will definitely empower my students as writers.
They will get a better understanding of what authors go through when creating a story for a book. They will learn how it takes time to create something worth reading.
