This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The R.I.S.E. UP! project empowers 4th-grade students in an underserved urban school to become confident, joyful readers and expressive writers. By providing high-interest books, writing supplies, literacy centers, and culturally relevant materials, we aim to close learning gaps and spark lifelong literacy skills.

Every child deserves to rise — this project helps them soar.

My students live in a world where books are rare and writing supplies are luxuries. This project ensures each child has access to high-interest, identity-affirming literature and the tools to discover their voice through writing. By providing structure, joy, and choice in ELA, we help them RISE UP — not just in literacy, but in confidence and academic hope.
