This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are amazing fifth graders that attend a title 1 school in Hawthorne, CA. My students have unique strengths, but one thing they have in common is a strong love of learning. Although they may not have a lot of resources to keep up with the ever changing world, they are always up for the challenge of learning something new.
In this class, we build a community of lifelong learners.
My students are constantly working hard and eager to learn. We are always working in small groups at the carpet or at their desks, and this year it is going to look different.
I want to make the classroom, in person and virtual, the best environment possible where my students can express themselves creatively and be exposed to all sorts of learning experiences.
My Project
Distance learning is new and challenging for our students. This year, more than ever, building relationships from the start is of the utmost importance. These books will give me many opportunities to create a welcoming environment in my classroom, virtual or in person.
Creating a classroom that fosters a love of learning, and brings smiles on a daily basis is one of my main focuses.
These books and this laptop stand will help me do this. The books will allow me to start conversations with my kids that will help me get to know my students more. The laptop stand will allow the flexibility that is necessary for distance learning to happen. I will be able to sit at my desk and share my screen, and then the next moment, stand up and write something on my whiteboard and easily raise my computer to show that screen.
