My Students
¡Bienvenidos! I am the music teacher who services a low-income community of really friendly and appreciative families and students in the southwest area of Chicago. Over 90% of the families in our community are low-income households.
Music is the favorite class for many of our students and as a music teacher, I strongly believe music is not only fun, engaging and motivating but also helps encourage leadership, teamwork, self-confidence and discipline which are all very important skills we all take on in life.
I want to give the students of our school the best musical experience they can receive under my time with them and I certainly appreciate your help for our students and families.

My Project
My students must keep their music education going while at home! It is crucial more now than ever that our students have music education at home for their well being and social-emotional learning. The desk-bells will be issued to our students and families to have musical instruments at home and continue learning music in a fun and engaging way.
Neuroscientists have concluded that learning to play a musical instrument is the only activity we do as humans that engages the entire brain at once, resulting in higher levels of executive thinking, creating avenues in the brain that do not happen without the actions of learning to play a musical instrument.
The students will learn, practice, and present their musical learning in many ways from home, in whole group and small group settings. From learning simple melodic movements following traditional children's songs to learning more complex music that requires a lot of guidance, reading, teamwork, and practice.
