My middle school science students are the best! Our school is based on an independent study model and students meet twice a week for group activities. We live in a suburban community in Southern California and represent the growing diversity of our area.
The students in our school love a challenge!
They enter the classroom with a desire to explore, build and challenge each other to greater heights. They have built a classroom community of growth and encouragement where it is safe to test their ideas.
My Project
We need ring stands in order to complete some upcoming chemistry experiments. We have been carefully stocking our science cabinet with equipment appropriate for middle school students. Ring stands are an essential element to safely and carefully support test tubes for science. The first project planned will be to measure the calories in specific food sources, extending our learning about health and nutrition. This project was started by a joint project between Google and Code.org. Our students completed some terrific coding assignments and learned how to develop a program through visual coding. We are looking forward to expanding our ability to complete chemistry experiments.
