This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Gung Hay Fat Choy, CHÚC MỪNG NĂM MỚI, saehae bog manh-i bad-euseyo! These all say Happy New Year in Chinese, Vietnamese, and Korean!

We celebrate the Lunar New Year every year and this year it falls on January 31.

I have Vietnamese and Chinese students in my class and we always incorporate all traditions into our lessons. We also have a parent night where we have craft activities as well as real lion dancers. We would like to make our own dragons with the heads and add crepe paper for the body. The pouches will hold their Gator tickets they earn throughout the year. The frames will be used when we take pictures during our Lunar New Year festival at our school.

My room partner and I culminate the Lunar New Year with a lunch for the students. We serve rice, pork, noodles and the bowls and containers are needed to make sure everyone gets a portion.

Our favorite part is when we pass out the chopsticks! They will attach the trainer chopsticks to the real chopsticks to make it easier for them to eat. We will have the Moon Pies as their dessert to reflect the Autumn Moon Festival.
