My students are incredibly talented, quick to learn, and are shining examples of "The Wylie Way." They are respectful, responsible, supportive of one another, and diligent. I love their passion for singing in school and out of school. We are hard workers, and as choir ambassadors, my students deliver quality in citizenship and musicianship. I serve students of all backgrounds including my incredible students with special needs. They learn music to enhance their lives and the lives of those around them. They understand that the gift of music education keeps giving to others. They love to visit other schools, retirement homes, and other places in our community to brighten the day of someone else and inspire others to shine.
My Project
Students will experience active engaged learning of rhythmic values. Through this project every student will have an instrument. Student learning and musical literacy will be enhanced by utilizing these instruments to count, read, and feel rhythmic values incorporating a steady beat. They will use these instruments to perform world music which will not only excite and inspire, but will also broaden their understanding of other cultures. Students will study countries around the world such as Morocco, South Africa, Ethiopia, Mexico, and Polynesia in addition to Native American and Polynesian cultures. All students will be included from gifted to those with special needs and English Language Learners.
