My Project
I would like to incorporate Chinese Jump rope bands into my math and reading lessons. Students will work together with a team of four students to help develop their reading and math fluency with jumping. Two students will have the bands around their ankles jumping in a rhythm pattern while the other two students jump in and out of the ropes while either saying their math facts or spelling words. Students will also have access to the Play-Doh to help them continue to grow their fluency in math and reading. Students will have their own jar to manipulate answers to math problems or to roll out the numbers of Play-Doh balls to the number of syllables in a word.
With each of these materials, students will increase their fluency in reading and math through rhythm.
My students this year are behind other students their age and are very active. My students love to move while they learn. I believe incorporating these materials will help bring movement and learning at the same time.
