My Project
I teach preschool through 6th graders and all of my students love playing different types of instruments. My predecessor did a fantastic job of getting a great set of barred instruments for my students and my goal has been to continue to add different instruments into the mix so every student can find something that appeals to them. Building up a selection of quality instruments is vital to a music program. Percussion instruments like guiros, triangles, and others will give students a chance to experiment with a variety of sounds.
Student engagement is at its highest when students have hands-on experiences.
My favorite thing about being a music teacher is active music-making. All of my classes start off with dancing or movement and then we sing, speak, and play instruments! We collaborate as a class and often in small groups. Ensemble skills are an added bonus to music-making.
