it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My kindergarten students need some new materials to boost up their phonemic awareness skills, especially with rhyming.
A lot of my kindergarten students are English language learners who speak English as their second language.
It's really hard for them to understand the concept of rhyming and the sounds that each letter represents. When I listen to them speak with so many grammatical errors, it really makes me feel that I need to provide strong hands-on lessons on language arts.
My Project
Having the materials such as the Rhyming Take-Home backpack will reinforce the skills taught at school to be practiced at home. Also, having the Rhyming game on the computer would benefit all my students tremendously. With all the materials I requested, I will be able to provide a better practice in phonemic awareness. I believe having strong phonemic awareness in kindergarten will help my students be stronger readers in first grade.
