RHS AWR: Period Products for All!

My Students

This year, three girls approached me and asked to start a club to support equity for women. Their fall goal? To supply RHS bathrooms with period products for 21-22. Our first drive wasn’t the best turnout, but out-of-pocket expenses have skyrocketed for me as I continue to make ends meet.

My Project

Period poverty is a chronic problem in the US and across the globe, 16.9 million individuals who menstruate live below the poverty line. Until the required supply of products by the 2022-2023 school year, AWR at RHS is working to supply all students who require menstrual products through to that point.

2/3 of women in the US report having to choose between food and menstrual products, and while 68.1% of college women report high rates of depression surrounding period poverty, the rates among high school students is higher.

The chronic absence rate among students due to period-related issues is skyrocketing, in part due to period poverty, with the rest surrounding the stigma of menstruation and the lack of medical care.

Help our students supply the necessary products for bathrooms AND our teacher partners whose classrooms we supply! Your support enables us to spend my out-of-pocket money on the creation of homemade rice heat packs for students with cramps!
