As a math teacher, I have realized the importance of rewarding students for their hard work and participation. Moving to a new school- and older students- I want to use a rewards system as a way to build relationships and increase engagement in the classroom. Students love small treats like Nutri-grain bars, jolly ranchers and hersheys chocolate!
Engagement can be challenging in subjects like math but using small rewards for active participation and classroom competitions really works!
Rewards don't have to be super involved, a small treat here or there goes a long way with students! Using collaborative learning and games in the classroom will be significantly more effective with the use of rewards!
