Help me give my students rewards to engage them in their learning. They are so frustrated with the things that they are trying to learn and the stresses that they are feeling at home during the pandemic.

My Students

My students are creative, energetic five to eleven year olds that are excited about learning. They are all classified as Special Education students and they all struggle to learn to read and write and calculate math problems. They are all willing to try and work hard each day at tasks that are very difficult for them to complete. My students show amazing strength and conviction and belief in themselves as they strive each day to do their best. They are positive, hard working students that struggle to learn but continue to keep trying.

My Project

Special Education Students need extra support to engage them in their learning. They are often asked to come to class and work on projects that are extra hard for them to do and things that they find frustrating. They will often work on their IEP goals for rewards and incentives. I am unable to buy the incentives and rewards I need with my small classroom budget. I need help to find new and creative ways to support my students and to engage them in their learning. They are often willing to work longer and harder for small tangible rewards.

Students that are struggling with behaviors in class are often being rewarded during the day for good behavior with small sessions of engaging activities with a friend in my Special Education program.

They are willing to work hard for rewards or for small tangible items. This is helping students to learn new good behaviors and to replace undesired behaviors with better behavior choices.
