My Students

The student population of my school is diverse. We have a great population of students that are English Language Learners. Teaching students that English is their second language means you must educate them with multiple strategies. All my students receive free breakfast and lunch.

My district is continually cutting budgets and that means my class sizes continue to increase year after year.

I teach in a trailer, in the school yard. I have on average 26 students at a time, with no additional assistance in the classroom.

For many of my students, I am the most stable person in their lives. They look to me as a teacher, surrogate parent, nurse and counselor. I love teaching in an urban school. It is exhausting, but I wouldn't trade it for a position in the suburbs. These children need me and many teachers don't want to go into poor schools and teach. I do, but I need donations to help me.

My Project

The clock rug, hundreds floor mat and prizes for positive behavior will assist my class in mastering the math skills that are required for second grade.

The round clock rug will be a great place for the students to gather for our math lessons.

The clock rug and hundred math floor mat will allow the children to get on floor and actually "do" the math skills hands on. Younger children benefit from moving around and making math fun!

The reward incentives are key to a successful management program. Children respond more positively to rewards as opposed to punishment. Prizes are key!
