This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our school participates in the NJ PBSIS (Positive Behavior Support in Schools) program. This program promotes positive mental health and making good choices by rewarding our students for doing the right thing. Even in high school, our students still like to earn rewards and these Bluetooth headphones, art markers, and portable chargers were some of the hottest rewards last year.

Creating an environment where students feel welcome and supported, where they are free to be themselves and express their feelings, but continue to be a positive part of our school environment is one of the pillars of our program and a way to continue to support positive mental health.

Our system hosts ice cream socials, gives out rewards for stellar behavior, does shout outs for both faculty and students, and has helped to change the culture of our school. We are so grateful for all of the support over the years and thank you for taking the time to read my DonorsChoose project.
