My Project
I work with a very challenging group of students in grades K-5. The members in this group rarely receive prizes for perfect attendance, honor roll grades, or the best classroom behavior. Many have had or still have very challenging situations and they require extensive support throughout the school day.
Help me to create a growth monitoring reward system for this group of students.
I would like to create a "reward store" in my classroom for this group of students. We will conduct individual goal-setting meetings with the members of this group to set a goal aimed at attendance, tardies, weekly grades, homework completion, and classroom behavior, and when students meet their weekly goal they will visit the store to receive prizes such as lollipops, animal erasers, or other treats. Students in this group need to be rewarded for growth measures and rewarding students for improving can further motivate them to improve in other areas as well. I believe that celebrating and rewarding students on a more frequent basis will lead to positive growth in this group and so many of our students are starving for positive reinforcement. I am hoping that this project will make a great difference.
