My students need a storage cart on wheels for recess equipment to maximize the precious time they have outside on beautiful days exercising their muscles!
Everyday, weather permitting, the students at Stephen Decatur go outside and enjoy recess. They have to wait at least 10 minutes while the lunch staff are assembling the equipment. This is wasted time that the students could enjoy!
The students at Stephen Decatur are very motivated and extremely deserving.
They work very hard and give 110% everyday in the classroom with rigorous lessons and activities going on all day long. They deserve a chance to explore all the fun and fitness of recess in an organized way, as they achieve their 60 minutes of play a day!
The students of my school are a unique group of individuals with a multitude of cultures present as well as many different types of learners. The school is home to four Autistic support classrooms from K-8 as well as general education classrooms from K-8. We have over 1000 students that come to school daily and give their all!
My Project
The equipment cart on wheels will be used for daily recess for 4 separate groups of students enjoying their time to unwind. Their are just over one thousand students that would benefit from the functionality of this cart. The lunch staff are fantastic and they have student helpers that retrieve the equipment making multiple trips. The convenience of this would increase the time students have accessing equipment as well as increasing their physical activity.
With more organization students can easily choose an activity and get physical! They can become more self-sufficient in properly putting away materials and equipment. It would also streamline recess time for the students and staff making it more productive and in the end more rewarding. Making it a Rewarding Recess!
Donating to this project will making recess time more rewarding for the Decatur School Students.
Although just 20 minutes recess time is the forever favorite of many students. Time to unwind, talk to friends, and enjoy some physical activity through the favorite subject of the universe...PLAY!
Students take notice to the little things, having them see that people out there are willing to give back to make their learning environment a better place will motivate them to achieve greatness.
