This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach an AWESOME group of 22 Bilingual Kindergarten students. My students are full of energy and are eager to learn everything they can.

Our school is a Title I school in a high-need community with limited resources.

All of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Many of my students struggle getting their basic needs and live without the luxuries that most people take for granted. Learning a new language is very challenging for many of my students. Therefore, they need the support of visual aids and hands-on materials to help them comprehend skills that are taught.

My Project

Teaching young children the proper way to write is a challenging task. Unfortunately, many children have never held a pencil or crayon before they start school. As we all know, bad habits are hard to break once they are learned and practiced over a long period of time. Learning proper handwriting techniques such as holding pencils, forming lines and curves are skills that are very difficult for young children.

With handwriting, it is much easier learning good habits than it is breaking bad ones.

Young children need a lot of practice forming letters and numbers. The LCD Writing Tablets and Wipe Sight-Words Practice Cards will provide my students opportunities to practice their writing skills during small group lessons, centers and learning stations. The erasers will be used during everyday math, ELAR and writing lessons and activities. The treasure chest toys will be given to the students as rewards for participation and effort. Like the saying goes, practice makes perfect!
