My Students

As many already know, 5th graders are the best!. 5th graders are goofy, sensitive, chatty, intelligent, kind, wonderful, and they are hard workers. I am with my 5th graders all day, for reading, math, social studies, and writing. As of now, we have a classroom of 24 diverse learners.

Almost half of our students will be returning to the building for the first time since March 2020 .

Coming back to in-person learning can both be exciting and nerve-wracking for students. Whether virtual or in-person, our students have been working extremely hard.

Our city is the poorest large city in the United States. Though we have many beautiful prestigious universities, where 1 out of every 6 doctors in the United States have received their medical degree, we also have neighborhoods that are in food deserts and filled with poverty and violence.

My students come each and every day ready to learn. They are joyful, respectful, and eager to learn. They deserve only the best, and Donor's Choose has been instrumental in making sure they get the best.

My Project

Many of our students returned back to learning in March 2021. Some of our students though, have not been in the building since March of 2020. That means that we have 5th graders who haven't physically been in the school building since they were third graders!

Utilizing a positive behavior incentive system will help ease the transition for our students as well as reward students for doing the right things!

A positive behavior incentive system (PBIS) means that you focus on the positives and reward students for doing the right thing. My co-teacher and I very much use a positive-based lens, and we want our classroom to be a joyful place.

Prizes will help motivate and incentivize our students. Help us start of the year with some amazing prizes for some amazing 5th graders.
