Help me give my students rewards for the incredible achievements they are making to help continue to create a safe space for positive and effective learning.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This year, I’ve focused on creating a safe, comfortable space where my students feel welcomed and supported in their learning. I’ve observed that students are more likely to attend class regularly and engage actively in their work when the classroom environment is inviting and secure. A space where students can indeed be themselves helps them succeed academically and emotionally.
Since making these changes, I’ve seen that students attend class more consistently and can better regulate their emotions.
The classroom has become a place where they feel safe, enabling them to manage stress, frustration, and excitement effectively. Moreover, students are happier and kinder to one another, which has helped to build a stronger sense of community within the class.
I’ve noticed a positive shift in how students approach their learning by carefully selecting items to enhance the classroom's comfort and security. They’re more motivated, involved, and eager to participate. Now, I want to reinforce these positive behaviors by rewarding their achievements. Recognizing their accomplishments will continue nurturing the environment I’ve worked hard to create, showing my students that their efforts are valued and celebrated. This helps them understand that their safe space is not just a place to learn but one where they can grow, thrive, and succeed together.
The selected items will further improve the students' learning and emotional security. The HABUTWAY Bean Bag Chair promotes a relaxed learning environment, while Crayola Crayon and Marker Classpacks encourage creativity. Dry Erase Lapboards allow active participation, and Play-Doh supports hands-on, sensory exploration. SEL Fidget Tools help with emotional regulation, and Reward Stickers and Certificates acknowledge achievements. Confetti Chest, Scratch Reward Cards, and Candy Rewards provide motivating incentives, reinforcing positive behavior and fostering a fun, engaging atmosphere. These tools create a safe, creative space that nurtures students' growth and success.
