Your donation has played a key role in transforming our learning environment into a space where students feel safe, seen, and motivated—not only to learn but to grow as individuals. This year, I've placed a strong focus on building a positive classroom culture, and the materials you helped provide have deepened that impact in ways I couldn't have imagined.\r\n\r\nWith items like the bean bag chair, sensory tools, and reward systems, I've seen a remarkable shift in my students' behavior and work ethic. They come to class more regularly, are more focused, and participate more actively. Knowing that their efforts will be recognized with stickers, scratch cards, or simply the joy of sitting in a special seat makes them feel valued. These small but meaningful rewards have helped reinforce positive choices, encouraging students to be kind, responsible, and engaged learners. I've also seen them grow emotionally—better managing frustration, supporting their peers, and taking pride in their work.\r\n\r\nAs a teacher, this project has helped me grow as well. It has challenged me to think more intentionally about how environment, recognition, and emotional support impact academic success. I'm now more confident in my ability to cultivate a classroom where students not only learn but thrive. Since receiving the new laptop, I've been able to fully return to designing interactive lessons, giving timely feedback, and creating a more organized and enriching learning experience for my students.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments this year happened during a creative novel digital book club where students focused on reading, analyzing and discussing the novel we were working on in a creative way for their classmates to learn as well. With access to my new laptop, I was able to build a shared digital space where students posted their book club and gave each other feedback. My students, who are typically reserved even participated and had fun with the class. That sense of pride and community was only possible because I had the technology to facilitate it.\r\n\r\nThis new resource is also helping me grow as a teacher. With the help of the PBIS rewards you funded—snacks, juices, scratch-off tickets, VIP bracelets, and emojo key chains—students have found new reasons to stay engaged, support their peers, and put forth their best effort.\r\n\r\nIn AP Literature, your impact came to life during our Poetry March Madness unit. Students debated and analyzed 32 poems over several rounds, defending their selections using tone, figurative language, structure, and theme. During the championship round, students were so invested they were shedding real tears over which poem deserved to win. One student earned a scratch-off ticket for an especially insightful defense of a poem that challenged the class's perspective. That recognition—plus a small snack—fueled even more buy-in. Students weren't just competing for prizes; they were growing as readers and thinkers.\r\n\r\nMeanwhile, in English 12, students completed a creative one-pager project based on Roald Dahl's \"Lamb to the Slaughter.\" This visual response project helped students synthesize elements like irony, symbolism, and character motivation. For many of my struggling learners, the project was a chance to shine in a non-traditional format. They proudly displayed their work, and some even requested extra scratch-off tickets to \"raffle\" off to classmates as peer-choice awards—a beautiful example of how your donation fostered a spirit of encouragement and collaboration.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping make learning joyful and meaningful for every student in my room. The bean bags and carpet have allowed them to approach their college and career plans in a more relaxed yet focused environment, which has made the entire process feel more approachable and less intimidating.\r\n\r\nThe next step for my students is to further engage with our new college displays. In the past, our fish had always arrived through Ms. Colding from the pet store. This donation created excitement among our students and led to engaging conversations for everyone, including the teachers. We were all so happy to finally have fish in our aquarium again.\r\n\r\nUnfortunately, we experienced a mishap with the fish. We were unaware that the previous filter in the tank was broken, which caused five of the six fish to get caught in the top part of the filter. A new filter has since been purchased. The single fish that survived was named \"Survivor\" by our students, and it continues to swim alone in our aquarium to this day. Eventually, we plan to purchase more fish so it can have friends.
